- 846 – Also known as an Inventory Inquiry/Advice, and EDI 846 is used by buyers and sellers to provide updates regarding inventory levels. It is often utilized in drop ship environments where the retailer controls the eCommerce website.
- 856 – Also known as an Advanced Shipment Notice, an EDI 856 describes the contents that have been shipped, the size of the shipment, ship date and in some cases estimated delivery date. It typically follows the payment of goods from a buyer.
- 940 – Also known as a Warehouse Shipping Order, an EDI 940 is usually sent by sellers/suppliers to third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and is a formal request for shipment of goods from a remote warehouse to a buyer’s location.
- 943 – Also known as Warehouse Stock Transfer Shipment Advice, an EDI 933 is used by manufacturers/distributors for 3PLs and remote warehouses. It typically notifies a warehouse when to expect the arrival of products.
- 944 – Also known as Warehouse Stock Transfer Receipt Advice, an EDI 944 is used by remote warehouses and 3PLs to confirm the shipment receipt.
- 945 –Also known as a Warehouse Shipping Advice, an EDI 945 confirms the completion of a shipment. This document is sent from a 3PL/remote warehouse to a client, letting them know that a shipment has taken place.
- EDI 946 – Also known as a Delivery Information Message, an EDI 946 dictates whether a transfer shipment is received. It provides the depositor detailed information of the product being shipped.
